With their annual general meeting on the horizon, Bath Building Society are hoping for another record response to their voting turnout and therefore another record donation for a local charity.
Every year, the Society encourages its members to vote on the composition of the board, and to receive the report and accounts. For every feedback form received, the Society donates 30p to Dorothy House Hospice Care.
Last year £313.80 was donated to the charity which provides physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to patients and their families facing life threatening illness, death or bereavement.
This year Bath Building Society is hoping to smash this record, and is encouraging all members to fill in their feedback forms to help ensure even more money is donated to the charity.
As a small and local building society, Bath Building Society aims to support the local community in which it operates, and has an active programme of support well underway for 2009, including their annual Charity Awards scheme.
Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of Bath Building Society, said, "The Society is well known for being 'closer to our customers', and one way we try to do this is through supporting community groups, charities and initiatives in the local area. Dorothy House provides such an important service for thousands of people in and around Bath every year and we're delighted to be able to offer our support."
"One of the big differences between independent building societies like us and banks is that our members have a say in how the Society is run, and we encourage members to both vote and to turn up at the AGM, which this year will be held on 30th April. Members who vote are also automatically entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets for a flight in the Society's hot air balloon."

For the third successive year the Society will be also sending out a customer feedback form to members. Dick Jenkins explains, "It's very important to hear what our members are saying. We really do take notice of what they write on the form and try to act on their suggestions where possible."
Katrina Sudbury, director of fundraising at Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: "We really appreciate the regular support we receive from Bath Building Society and would like to say a very big thank you to everyone for their kind contribution.
The NHS only funds about 30 per cent of our costs, so we need to raise about £3.5 million a year to keep on caring for more than 800 patients and their families every day. We receive no funding from national charities like Macmillan and Marie Curie towards the cost of providing nursing care in people's own homes, so the generous support of businesses in our community is absolutely vital."
