The panel work with the Society to consider each application, and grants of up to £1,000 are then allocated to successful applicants. One group to receive support through last year’s awards is Focus Counselling, a charity formed in 1999 to provide counselling for those seeking to work through and resolve particular issues in their lives that may be undermining their mental and emotional health. In 2007 Bath Building Society awarded Focus Counselling £200 to allow them to have special printed t-shirts made for their runners in the Bath Half Marathon, helping to further raise the profile of the charity. Jan Douglas-Bate, Director of Focus Counselling, commented, “We are very grateful to Bath Building Society for their support. Last year the grant we received was put to good use through the Bath Half Marathon, and we are currently in the process of applying for an award this year. We’ve had lots of support from Bath Building Society, as have many other groups and charities across Bath, and we really appreciate the support they offer.” “The other good thing about the Awards is that you get to meet people from a range of other charities at the presentation, and you can find out about all of the work these groups are doing throughout Bath.” Chief Executive of Bath Building Society, Dick Jenkins, added, “Focus Counselling is just one of the worthy causes Bath Building Society has supported through our Charity Award scheme. We have strong ties with the communities in which our agencies and branches are based, and through our awards scheme we are able to make a series of small but meaningful contributions that will directly benefit people in the communities in which we operate.” For more general information regarding the awards contact Eventy – Marketing & PR on 01225 337363. |
