Bath Building Society has made a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support as a result of its recent charity collections.
The Society has been collecting change in each of its branches around the city to donate to the charity which provides practical, medical and financial support for those affected by cancer.
The idea to offer support to Macmillan was put forward by Noel Broomfield, Investment and Development Manager at Bath Building Society.
For several years Noel has been on the Bath fundraising committee for Macmillan, and has ensured that the Society has taken part in the charity’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for the past five years.
He said, “Several years ago I decided to get involved with Macmillan because of the important work that they do. In 2011 the charity celebrates its 100th birthday and one of the first nurses was in Bath, so it’s great that we are able to support a home-grown organisation that now helps thousands of people every year.”
“The money we have raised from the collections and the coffee morning will be used within the local area. I would like to thank anyone who has donated their spare change through our branches in Wood Street, Twerton, Oldfield Park, Larkhall and Combe Down in recent months.”
Local Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, Anna Cairns added, “Nearly three people a day are diagnosed with cancer in the Bath area, and Macmillan will be there for all of them, so it’s so wonderful that local companies like Bath Building Society continue to support us. Without local support we couldn’t do what we do.”
