Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of Bath Building Society, was selected earlier this year to chair The Regional Building Society Conference in Hampshire which brought together the leading players in the Building Society sector in the south of England.
With a great deal of experience in organising and chairing conferences, Dick said that he thoroughly enjoyed his role at the conference, which came at an exciting time both for the building society industry and for Bath Building Society.
The conference was held on Wednesday 7th November, and featured key speakers from the sector. Throughout 2007 Bath Building Society has continued to raise its profile across the UK, and its role at the conference has helped to reaffirm its place in the national market as well as its strong local roots.
Dick Jenkins commented, “It’s very important that the city of Bath is given the profile it deserves. Bath Building Society has always punched above its weight within the city, and it’s great that we have taken the lead on this within the industry.”

“The role of arranging this conference came with the role of Chairman of the Metropolitan Association of Building Societies. It’s always good to get people from our industry together, and the conference came at such a critical time, with interest rates being in flux and the industry verging of a new era in the mortgage and savings markets.”
“Also from the conference I hope our delegates gained some further insight into the world of financial services by listening to others and hearing some provocative ideas. Whenever I get together with others in our industry there's always something interesting to learn.”
