Combe Down School Takes an Interest in Bath Building Society

Children from Combe Down Primary School had the opportunity to find out about how important it is to save when Bath Building Society visited as part of the school’s recent Business Week activities.
In a very simplistic way, the Society was able to show the 408 pupils the importance of money, to discuss why they and their parents might save and how a Building Society works.
Jonathan Cook, the Society’s Branch and Agency manager said, “It was great to see how well the students grasped why saving is important for both them and their parents. They were very engaged in the discussion. We were extremely pleased to be asked to be involved in the school’s Business Week and we would like to thank both the teachers and the students for the warm welcome they gave us.”
During the visit the children were also given the chance to win £10 in a Futurebuilder account in a Guess the number of mini eggs in the piggy bank competition.
The Society is delighted to announce that it has set up an Affinity Arrangement with the school which means all accounts opened by anyone connected with Combe Down Primary School from now on will be helping the school earn additional funding from the Society. The scheme means that Bath Building Society will pay the school a commission quarterly based the balances held. It is hoped this arrangement will be able to provide much needed money each year, for the school.
