“UNSTASH THE CASH” For foreign currency appeal |
A local charity is appealing for foreign currency, which might be rattling around and worthless at home, in a campaign where every penny of every currency counts!
Bridge Care, whose nursing home in Bathwick provides support for older people in Bath and their carers, is able to change foreign coins or notes to Sterling in order to boost funds for the charity.
Thanks to the help of Bath Building Society, which has a Bridge Care collection tin in each of its local branches, dropping off unwanted foreign currency couldn’t be easier.
Jonathan Cook, Branches and Agencies Manager with Bath Building Society said, “We’re delighted to be helping Bridge Care as it undertakes such valuable work for older people in our area. Many people have foreign currency stashed away at home which is of no value, as it is too small to change back into Sterling. Now this money can be put to vital use, helping Bridge Care to look after older people in its nursing home
Bridgemead in Bathwick.”

Collection tins have also been placed in, Woods Stationers, Wild Café, Good Newsagents, Bathwick News and The Curfew Pub.
Bridge Care Trustee, Geoff Weekes said, “The whole community is feeling the effects of the current economy. We accept people to our nursing home Bridgemead, regardless of their ability to pay. So every penny we can raise really does make a difference, and we are very grateful to Bath Building Society for supporting our campaign with a tin in each of their branches. We hope that this will make it as easy as possible for people to drop off foreign currency which is of no value to them, but extremely valuable to us!”
