Fireworks Display Raises Record Amount for Local Causes
Organised by the Rotary Club of Bath and sponsored by Bath Building Society, the display took place at The Rec on 5th November, and attracted thousands of people.
This was the first time the Rotary Club has arranged the display, having taken over the responsibility from Bath Round Table earlier this year. In total the event raised a huge £13,350 which will be donated to a variety of local causes.
The club also oversaw the popular "Fireworks Safety" poster competition which attracted over 4,500 entries. The winner, Noah Hickman-Riding, was called upon to cut the ribbon at the opening of the new Southgate development in November.
According to Chair of the Rotary Club of Bath, Mike Knight, both the display and the competition were huge successes.
“We were amazed with the response from the people of Bath,” he said. “The City centre fireworks display has always been popular, and we were delighted to have raised so much money this year. I would like to say a big thank you to the Bath Scouts for helping with the collections, and to Bath Building Society for their ongoing support.” |

The proceeds will be split between local causes including Threeways School, Young Carers, Heart FM’s ‘Have a Heart’ charity, Inner Wheel, Bath
Scouts and Bath Interact. The remainder will go to Rotary General Charities.
Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive for Bath Building Society, said, “I would like to congratulate the Rotary Club of Bath for organising such a superb event this year. It is fantastic to see their efforts being so well supported by the people of Bath. It’s an event which we’re hugely proud to be associated with, and we’re looking forward to being involved again next year.”
Bath Building Society has sponsored the Guy Fawkes Day event in Bath for more than 20 years.
