Groups Set to Benefit from Building Society's Charity Awards
Bath Building Society has allocated grants to a diverse range of charities and community groups in their fourth annual Charity Awards.

Recently, a panel of judges including editor of the Bath Chronicle Sam Holliday, Mayor of Bath cllr Colin Barrett, Jilly Edwards from the Quartet Foundation, Ben Carey from Eventy and Chief Executive of Bath Building Society Dick Jenkins met to consider the applications.

This is the fourth year in which Bath Building Society has awarded a range of small but meaningful contributions to charities and groups in the local area. In the past, organisations including Positive Action on Cancer, Bath Open Christmas, and the Community Bus have received the top award.

This year, many worthy applications were received, and the panel had the difficult task of deciding which organisations to support. Grants of up to £1,000 were allocated, as well as pairs of tickets for rides in the Bath Building Society hot air balloon, which groups are encouraged to use for fundraising purposes.

This year the top award of £1,000 was allocated to Bath City Farm who had applied to the Society in the hope of securing funding to provide disabled access at the farm in Southdown.
Chief Executive of Bath Building Society Dick Jenkins said, "It is always difficult to decide which groups are most deserving. We have so many applications from an eclectic mix of worthy causes, and we try to spread our support across a range of organisations supporting people in many different ways."

"Bath City Farm is now an established local charity and does some great work within the community, so we are delighted to be able to offer them our support this year. We hope that the contribution will allow even more people to benefit from the work they do."

He added, "I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Mayor of Bath cllr Colin Barrett, Sam Holliday and Jilly Edwards for their help in making some tough decisions."

Other groups set to benefit from this year's Charity Award allocations include Cruse Bereavement Care, Larkhall Arts Festival and Beechen Cliff and Hayesfield School's Pupil Inclusion Project.

The Charity Awards will be presented to the successful applicants at a ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour in October.
