Facelift for Bath Building Society's oldest branch

The Mayor of Bath (Councillor Colin Barrett) was in Oldfield Park this week to officially open the newly refurbished Bath Building Society branch on Moorland Road.

Alongside Chief Executive of Bath Building Society, Dick Jenkins, the Mayor officially cut the ribbon to the new-look branch, which has been the talk of the area for a number of weeks during its extensive facelift.

The revamp marks an important step in the history of the Society, with their oldest branch being brought up to date with a stunning new design and layout. The Oldfield Park branch was the first flagship branch of the Society when it opened and has been an integral part of Moorland Road ever since.
Being one of the Society's busiest offices, the improvements will benefit the many customers who use it on a regular basis, and Bath Building Society believe it will give a welcome boost to the Moorland Road area.
Branch and agencies manager, Jonathan Cook said, "As part of our commitment to providing a premier service to our customers, we have decided to upgrade the facilities at the Oldfield Park office for the benefit of our customers."

"We are delighted to offer private offices, counters designed to allow our customers to sit or stand depending on their needs, wheelchair access and easy access doors. "

"Following the positive feedback we had from the opening of our Wood Street branch in 2007, with its contemporary design and open space, we hope the new design and layout will be well received by our customers in and around Oldfield Park."

The opening of the new branch follows on from a busy period for the Society in which it has faced many challenges from the financial storm. At their recent AGM members were told that the Society's financial results for 2008 were amongst the best in the industry, by Chief Executive Dick Jenkins.

The Mayor said, "It gives me great pleasure to officially open the refurbished branch of Bath Building Society in Oldfield Park. Moorland Road is an important part of our city, and I'm delighted to see Bath Building Society is investing in their premises in this area of the city."

"The new design looks superb, and I'm sure it will help the Society to continue to meet the needs of their customers in Oldfield Park for many years to come."
