Society Names Pancake Race Charity

Preparations for Bath's Flippin' Pancake Race are now well underway, and the event sponsor, Bath Building Society, is delighted to announce Julian House as their chosen charity for the event.

Julian House has been nominated by Bath Building Society to receive the proceeds from the race entry fees, and Julian House will also be holding a street collection on race day.

Bath's Flippin' Pancake Race being held at lunchtime on Tuesday 24th February, with the first race starting at 1pm. Teams of four will be competing in a relay race whilst flipping their pancakes as they go, with the ultimate aim of walking away with the coveted Frying Pan Trophy.

The traditional race is being organised by Eventy - Marketing & PR who brought the highly successful Egg & Spoon Race to Queen Square last May. 

Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of Bath Building Society, said, "We are pleased to announce Julian House as the official charity for Bath's Flippin' Pancake Race.
Julian House provides a vital service for homeless men and women in a around Bath, and we hope that the contributions from the entry fees and street collection will go some way to helping the charity reach its fundraising target."


"It is also great that local businesses are being encouraged to come together and get involved in such a fun event held right the heart of Bath, whilst at the same time supporting those in need in our local community."

Cecil Weir, Fundraising Manager for Julian House, added, "We are delighted that Julian House has been chosen to receive funds raise through this event. The charity relies on the generous support of local businesses and individuals, and everyone here at the charity is hoping that this is just the beginning of a positive 2009."
