South West Building Society Scoops National Award
Bath Building Society has been named the ‘Best No Notice Business Account Provider’ for the second year running in the Business Moneyfacts Awards, which identify the best products and service in the business and commercial finance world.

The Society’s easy access account, which is used by a mix of locally and nationally based companies, has continued to pay a strong, variable rate of interest over the past 12 months.  This, coupled with the infrastructure that Bath Building Society has in place to support its business clients, has helped it stand out from its competitors.

This win has also been closely followed by recent nominations at in the Best First Time Buyer Mortgage and No Notice Account Provider categories in Moneyfacts’ consumer Awards, which will be announced in June.

Commenting on the most recent award and nominations, Business Moneyfacts’ editor Lee Tillcock said: “In the current low interest rate environment it is vitally important that providers maintain their support for the business deposit sector. Bath Building Society has managed to continually offer value across its no notice product account range and held off the challenge from some other high profile names in the industry.”

“These nominations also highlight a commitment to excellence that will serve them well during the next year. Rigorous product monitoring is carried out throughout the preceding year to ensure that the Moneyfacts Awards showcase those providers supporting the sector at a time when its success and growth has never been more important. This event continues to celebrate the best products and service in the personal finance world and Bath Building Society should be rightly proud of their shortlisted position in this important category.”

Chief Executive of Bath Building Society,
Dick Jenkins, said, “We have always sought to ensure that Bath Building Society is able to offer a combination of high quality service and competitive, innovative products across both its saving and lending arms.”

“We’re delighted to have been awarded the prize for Best No Notice Business Account Provider, but we are also thrilled to have our niche mortgage products noticed by the industry experts. For several years now we have been striving to create niche products to help first time buyers, so the nominations are testament to our dedication in this field.”

Bath Building Society has won both consumer and industry accolades for its specialist mortgage products; ‘Buy for Uni’ and the ‘Parent Assisted Mortgage’, both designed to help first time homebuyers.

Last month also saw the Society host its Annual General Meeting which was well-attended.  The Society’s board of directors confirmed the Society’s record net lending, totalling £22 million, in 2009.  Pre-tax profits for the Group – consisting of the Society, its property lettings business and its independent financial advice business – were £962,000 (up from £470,000 in 2008).
