Swainswick School Flying High Thanks to Auction of Promises
|
Friends of Swainswick School recently recently held an Auction of Promises, raising thousands of pounds for the school’s Garden Project. The project is a plan to extend outdoor play and learning areas across the entire school grounds and includes an outdoor classroom; hardcore areas for each class to utilise in class time; seating to stimulate social interaction; a shaded terraced area and a sandpit. The auction, held on 24th April, received a boost from Bath Building Society which donated a voucher for a ride in its hot air balloon. The ticket raised £130 on the night. Julie Bleathman from Friends of Swainswick School said, “We were delighted to receive a balloon ticket from Bath Building Society. It helped to give a huge boost our Auction of Promises which raised a total of £3,500 towards our Garden Project.” Jonathan Cook from Bath Building Society added, “The Friends of Swainswick School have done an excellent job so far of raising funds for a great project. The new outdoor areas will be a real asset to the school and will be enjoyed by many children for years to come, so we were more than happy to offer a ticket for the school to auction.” “We are always keen to help local charities and organisations in fundraising activities like this. More balloon tickets and cash grants are available through the Society’s annual Charity Awards.” Charities and community groups have until 30th June to apply for a grant. Application forms can be found here or by contacting Ben Carey at Creatrix PR on 01225 423400. |
