Tonia Smither joins Bath Building Society
Bath Building Society is delighted to announce an important appointment to their team at their Head Office on Queen Square, Bath. Tonia Smithers from Midsomer Norton joined the Society in May, and is looking forward to helping them build upon their recent successes. As Head of Compliance and Society Secretary, Tonia will be responsible for ensuring that Bath Building Society works in line with the building society regulations and legislation put in place to protect customers.
Previously she worked for Nationwide Building Society within the Legal Department, and in the past has also worked as Group Company Secretary for Somer Housing Group, therefore she has the relevant experience in compliance and governance issues as well as the high standards of customer care skills that Bath Building Society sets its foundations upon.
Having grown up in Midsomer Norton, Tonia is familiar with the local area and enjoys taking an active role in her local community. She is currently a Governor at her former school, Norton Hill, where her two daughters now attend.
Bath Building Society also prides itself on its involvement within the local community, regularly supporting events and initiatives from fetes to festivals. For Tonia, the decision to join the Society was an easy one to make.
Tonia commented, “I am keen to take an interest in my local community, and I enjoy being able to give something back through the school in terms of my knowledge and experience. “For me Bath Building Society is an ideal organisation to join in terms of their ethos and outlook.
I wanted to get involved in what the Society is doing on a local level.”
“My role specifically is to ensure that we work within the guidelines.
