Financial education workshop at Somerset Studio School
Posted on 15th May 25
Chief Executive, Richard Ingle, visited Somerset Studio School to take part in a financial education workshop as part of our programme to deliver financial education to schools and sixth forms in Bath & North East Somerset.
The workshop, aimed at year ten students, covered topics including saving, investing and tax. The workshops aim to bring these serious topics to life with students learnt that the average wage earner will pay a whopping one million pounds in tax over their lifetime and that even a 3 year old TikTok star has to pay tax on earnings!
The Society is proud to partner with WizeUp Financial Education – a charity dedicated to giving young people essential financial skills for life – to deliver our financial education programme in the local area. In 2024 we reached 1,524 students in 55 workshops.
Richard Ingle, Chief Executive Officer at the Society, said:
“It’s great to have the opportunity to attend the workshops with Wize Up and see first hand what the students learn. We’re proud to support the local community with the financial education programme that’s currently missing in the national curriculum. We work with the schools to tailor content to individual needs including separate sessions for parents to help them navigate University finance.”
