The 2019 Charity Awards
Now in the 13th year, the Bath Building Society Charity Awards were established to support as many local community initiatives as possible from the growing number of requests for support that the Society receives each year.
This year's entries were judged by a panel including the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Gerry Curran, and representatives from Bath Rotary Club and The Quartet Foundation alongside Bath Building Society colleagues.
We are delighted to announce our Charity Of The Year in 2019/20 is Voices. The Bath-based charity was founded in 2014 by women who have experienced domestic abuse. Voices provides peer and community-based recovery programmes specifically for women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
Voices will benefit from year-round fundraising support from the Society's employees. Eight further charities and community groups from the local area will share £6,500 from our Annual Charity Awards programme. This year's chosen charities are: Bath Gateway Out & About (£1,500); Moorland Road Community Library (£1,000); Bath Area Play Project (£1,000); Bath Hospital Radio (£1,000); The Friends of Wheels For All (£500); Keynsham & District Mencap (£500), Nova Sports & Coaching (£500) and Arts Together (£500.)
Threeways School, Bath Symphony and The Woodwork Project each received a pair of Bath Building Society hot air balloon tickets which can be used to raise funds.
