Community involvement

We’re proud to support several events in our local community throughout the year and are looking forward to live events resuming as soon as possible in 2021. Check back here to find out what’s coming up and how we are getting involved.

Rotary Club of Bath
We’ve worked closely with The Rotary Club of Bath for many years and have developed a strong partnership supporting the incredible work The Rotary Club do in our local community including a number of charitable events throughout the year.

The Firework Poster Competition and Bath Fireworks Display
We have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds over the 43 years that the Society has been the main sponsor of this community Fireworks event in central Bath.

We also run the annual Firework Safety campaign with local primary schools, including a Poster Design Competition. Most people who have attended a primary school in Bath will have entered the competition over the years.

The Festival of Motoring
We sponsor the Arena at the annual Bath Festival of Motoring.

The Annual Rotary Carol Service at Bath Abbey
The Annual Rotary Carol Service at Bath Abbey has been a key date in Bath’s Christmas celebrations for over 70 years. The event is an opportunity for elderly and disabled residents of care homes around Bath to get together and enjoy the festive event, also attended by local dignitaries. Free transport is provided by the Rotary Club.

Other events include:

The Boules
We are a “Little Sponsor” of the annual Bath Boules event that takes place in Queen Square each summer. The Society enters a team to compete with other local businesses in the tournament. We also donate balloon flights as raffle prizes and all monies raised from this event go to support a number of smaller local charities.

Bath in Bloom
We support Bath in Bloom, including sponsorship of the iconic sculpture – Xylem – in Parade Gardens, which was created to celebrate 50 years of Britain in Bloom.

Balloon Flights
The Society sponsors a hot air balloon which enables us to give away a limited number of tickets each year to good causes in and around Bath for fund raising purposes. The flying season runs approximately from April through October so we strongly encourage requests for tickets to be with us early in the year. Please email Tiffany Hardie Albutt:  tiffany@bibs.co.uk if you would like to request a flight voucher for a local charity or community group.

If you would just like to buy tickets to fly in the balloon, it is operated by www.bathballoons.co.uk and you can find out how to do this on their website.
